To cut it or not (and who has the scissors)

I went and hired an accountant this year, I asked him whether I was on track for doing jewellery full time. His advice was to start outsourcing the time consuming stuff. Inwardly I laughed, as though I could afford that. He suggested the local University as a place to find people to help with stuff, however I didn't want anyone else touching my stuff (control freak here - I admit it).
So, I started following a course on jewellery design as a business and hey presto they said exactly the same thing. Now the one thing that sucks the life and time out of me is photo editing. There is a lot of talk of cut outs for jewellery,  I'm not convinced its really the image I want to project, however there was certainly a need for some things I do to have cut out images,  it's not that I can't do it, I can, it just takes me forever. So I took the advice of one of the other people on the course and signed up to an online outsourcing site. And this is the result. Oh my word I am so impressed. The work was done quickly and very reasonably priced, and now I've found it I will most definitely be using it again, and the guy who did my pictures.
Below you can see the difference in using cut outs and not.

And to show the immediate difference here is my Facebook timeline page before and after.

If anyone is interested in who I used
the site is www.odesk.com
the guy I used was Razaur Rahman

Sue, all I can say is WOW!!!! This is just amazing to see the before and after. I agree with you, that this "cut out" look may not necessarily be the look that I am after - I didn't realize I took what was called "lifestyle" type of photos until they were described that way in the class collection review. But there certainly is a place for this style of photography and it sure looks streamlined and professional. You are fortunate everything went so well on your first time outsourcing. Thank you for sharing your experience.

It was my pleasure Cindy. I'm going to check with the guy and if he's ok I'll put his details on the blog as well. I agree with you I think there's a place for 'lifestyle' as you call it as well as this clean cut look. Personally I like 'lifestyle' as I feel it gives some personality to the site instead of a corporate type of look, but it much depends on what effect you are after.

I am so impressed with this, might have to brave odesk myself!

When I have a bit of time later I'll check with the man who worked for me if he minds having his name up. It's always nice to recommend someone for good work, but I was made up with the experience and have been telling everyone I bump into about it now.

it's very clean and classy, really shows the product detail beautifully.

It looks stunning. I think there's a place for both ... possibly show the cleaner images on the first page, with 'lifestyle' photos on the actual item's page, so ppl can see the piece in scale.

Yes I do really really like them, I just wonder whether they look 'too' clean, in the way that they might be manufactured rather than made. But I love playing with them for publicity stuff, and would love to be able to see my site with a complete all one way or all the other way without actually having to do it ;-)
