Art - Julieclarkart at artfire

bbbbbbbbbbbbbb

bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb

I saw Julie's art of artfire and was really attracted to the variety and colour;

"Firm in the belief anyone can create, I continue to experiment with different media, from pencil to paint to fiber, trying several media in an effort to find what fits. Just recently, I finally relaxed enough to explore letting go of the hardwired habit of being exact as possible in my paintings. In other words, taking on the attitude: Create, not replicate. The result gave me the wind I needed to coax me forward, as the resulting pieces are a truer reflection of what suits me.
And, as you will see whenever you stop by my studio, eclectic suits me well.
Another love of mine is fabric and thread. As much as my painted pieces may fall more on the impressionistic, or even abstract line, classical quilting does draw me in. Quilty pieces, as I refer to them, range from classic wall hangings and useful table mats, to fabric art pieces. I love them all. And, like so many modern day quilters, I learned by largely teaching myself the craft, wanting to make something for my new baby. Before I knew it, I was hooked. "

Art - Pamela Taguinot

I met Pamela through a friend on facebook and saw her delightful colourful paintings. I love the naivety and spontaneity, the pure joy that is represented.

I asked her to say a few words about herself:

"Drawing since 10 yrs. old. Basically self taught just
from doodling around with different mediums.
Later on I attended art classes in college to realize the
use of paints better.
I continued to make stuff for friends and family.
Music is a big part of my creative process, jazz being my main inspiration.
Now I've created a website to share what I've accomplished. "

Art - Amanda at Mossmottle

Amanda is an accomplished artist of varied mediums (and from the UK - yay!) and has kindly allowed me to feature her here.
"A keen painter and metal clay jewellery maker, I'm a self-representing artist currently living in Derbyshire, on the edge of the Peak District of the United Kingdom. My work tends to be textural and tonally variegated, reflecting the limestone and woodland environment I inhabit.

It's very important to me to have a strong element of improvisation and spontaneity in the creative process.
My interest in organic forms and textures is reflected in my painting, most of which falls somewhere between landscape and abstraction. My paintings, although often built up in layers over time often contains spontaneous, gestural drawing and calligraphic expression. Frequently landscape will assert itself before long in some way. Sometimes just a conversation about colour may lead to something new. On a very good day, music will cajole and inspire me to paint in a very free and happy way.
Most of my paintings are made using oil paints with alkyd medium to greatly accelerate drying time. I love blending techniques within a painting, for example glazing and impasto. I find paint, oils especially, endlessly fascinating!
I'm also committed to making affordable, smaller format original fine art works. I love the sense of intimacy often to be found in such art."
